Doug Henzlik has shaped the company’s successful projects across the country with a deep entrepreneurial passion. His 25-plus years of expertise include all aspects of the development process, including leasing, marketing, entitlements, financing, and construction. Doug directs the company’s focus and forges relationships with tenants, financial partners, and municipalities. His relationship-oriented approach has been a trademark of his success.

Doug grew up in Leawood, KS and attended the University of Kansas where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, and a member of the KU basketball team, playing in the 1986 Final Four Tournament.

He began his career in the commercial brokerage business in 1989 with Leo Eisenberg in Charleston, SC. In 1993, Doug started a branch office in Charleston, SC for JDN, the largest developer of Walmarts in the mid-1990’s and one of the largest strip center REITs in the Country, with an average 115 properties in its portfolio.

In 1997, Doug and Tyler Oliver formed Henzlik-Oliver Real Estate, where they focused on tenant representation, value-add and build-to-suit development deals for National retailers. Henzlik-Oliver enjoyed a prosperous partnership and friendship that has lasted over 18 years.

Today, Doug continues his tradition of innovation and success with renewed focus on value-add development. He has acquired, developed or redeveloped, both independently and through his partnerships, over 3-million square feet of retail. He has worked with well-known national brands such as: The Home Depot, Walmart, Tractor Supply Company, Buffalo Wild Wings, Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Mattress Firm, Staples, AT&T, Food Lion, AWG Grocery Stores, O’Reilly Automotive, and AutoZone.

Doug and his wife, Leslie, have been married for 25 years, have one son and two daughters, and live in Stilwell, KS. Doug also has two brothers: an older brother who is also in the real estate business and a younger brother with Down’s Syndrome who works at Dillion’s Grocery Stores. Doug has always placed Christ first in his life and has grown up in the Church. His love for kids, Christ and the game of basketball led him to starting Rise Above, a 501c3 organization that will focus on discipling coaches to become mentors to basketball players of all ages.

Relationships are the foundation of our business. They are everything. We attribute our success to building long-term partnerships with clients and stakeholders.
